Bold Color Choices for Vintage Bungalows Great & Small
The term Bungalow originally used to describe the simple structure in which weary travelers might find rest on their long dusty pilgrimages to the holy city of Bengal, literally meaning; "On the way to Bengal". During the period when the British ruled in India brought many of the uniquely colorful, yet simple styles of rural East India to the heights of fashion in Europe and the Americas. As a result the 'bungalow' became symbolic of the desire within the Arts & Crafts community to return to the simpler lifestyle, rejecting what they saw as the overly self conscious and frivolous style of the Victorian era. The Bungalow has since taken many colorful forms and sizes!
